Sensei Nick began his training in Iran in 1974 at the age of 12. After years of training in Iran, Sensei Nick moved to St. Louis, MO in 1980 and continued his Judo training with Mr. Yoon. Sensei Nick received his Shodan (1st degree black belt) in 1983 under Mr. Yoon. Sensei Nick has been very dedicated to Judo during his 35yrs of training and uses the lessons and philosophies of Judo in his day to day business. Sensei Nick is and engineer by education and is currently the President/CEO of advanced FLOW engineering, based out of Corona, CA. In 2008 Sensei Nick was awarded the rank of Godan (5th Degree Black Belt) from Sensei Gary Goltz.

Sensei Nick focuses much of his teaching on perfecting the techniques and strategies of Judo instead of using raw physical power. The primary strategy in Judo is the use of maximum efficiency with minimal effort and Sensei Nick gears his classes to focus on the use of your opponents energy to work against themselves. Sensei Nick continues to compete in Judo tournaments a few times a year.

NIDAN 2ND DEGREE BLACK BELT

 

Sensei Jason started his martial arts training in 1987 in the Korean art of Tae Kwon Do. Over the next 14yrs, Jason focused his training on the striking arts earning ranks in Kali, Jeet Kune Do and Savate (French Kickboxing). Sensei Jason, competed in full contact kickboxing matches from 1992 through 1997 earning an 9-4 record. In 2001, Jason began training in Judo under Sensei Fred Barnett with the Bowling Green, KY Judo/Jiu Jitsu Club. During his time in KY, Sensei Jason competed heavily and had won the KY State Judo Championships in 2004-5 (Masters Heavyweight Division). In 2006, Jason packed his family and moved back to California and continued his training under Sensei Gary Goltz and Sensei Nick Niakan out of Goltz Judo in Claremont, Ca. In 2008, Sensei Jason joined Sensei Nick Niakan in starting up the Kohaku Judo Club here in Corona.

Jason is an avid martial artist and continues to cross train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai and Savate but his primary focus continues to be his Judo training. Sensei Jason works as the Marketing Director for Sensei Nick at advanced FLOW engineering and also volunteers his time with the USJA (United States Judo Association) as the So-Cal Regional Coordinator.
